Elmer's HaulMaster is a line of grain carts from 1,100 to 3,000 bushels. HaulMaster CONNECT is its electronics package: a cab tablet and a cart controller that read the scales and track loads by crop, field, truck and bin.
I worked on the grain cart ECU and its sensor suite.
Highlights
- Wrote a fault-tolerant I2C memory driver in C with asynchronous read/write, CRC error detection, and redundant partitions. Operators get immediate access to the actuator controls instead of blocking on memory access.
- Implemented a PID control system in C for setpoint control of the actuators, replacing the old incremental-motion design.
- Built moisture and temperature sensor integration end to end: Vue.js UI components, J1939-compliant CAN bus communication in Rust, and a Python/SQLite backend using the Masonite ORM. It reports grain quality in the field instead of requiring a lab test.
- Created and resolved tickets and took part in refinement and code review sessions in a Git, Bitbucket, and ClickUp workflow.

KJ Controls

KJ Controls is the industrial automation side of KJ Contracting in Nanaimo, BC. It is a CSA and UL 508A certified panel shop building PLC, VFD and heat trace control panels.
I drafted and designed control panels.
Highlights
- Produced schematics for Siemens, Motorola and Allen-Bradley PLC control and VFD panels, contributing to over 20 controls projects in mining, forestry, wastewater and more.
- Reviewed component datasheets, consultant drawing packages, and the Canadian Electrical Code to ensure design compliance.
- Maintained and contributed to custom AutoCAD Electrical footprint and symbol libraries, enabling layout generation from schematic and automatic BOM generation.
- Developed a Python application to automate datasheet package generation, reducing engineering time by over 1 hour per project.

Laporte is a consulting engineering firm that designs pharmaceutical, agrifood and bioindustrial plants. I worked out of the Vancouver office.
I drafted power distribution deliverables and helped coordinate projects.
Highlights
- Provided electrical engineering support for process improvement projects in agricultural facilities and bioindustrial plants.
- Drafted design deliverables including single line diagrams, cable routing layouts, and wiring schematics using AutoCAD.
- Maintained load calculation and wire sizing spreadsheets for development of panel schedules and sizing OCPDs.
- Organized a tour for 5 Laporte engineers to see the G3 Vancouver grain export terminal.

Operations Assistant
G3 Canada Ltd.

G3 is a Canadian grain company based in Winnipeg. It runs grain elevators across western Canada and export terminals on both coasts and the Seaway.
I worked at the Glenlea inland terminal on upkeep, maintenance and grain grading.
Highlights
- Communicated with customers and co-workers to grade and bin over $1.5 million in incoming grain daily.
- Graded incoming grain using lab equipment such as a dockage machine, protein and moisture testers, and falling number testing equipment.
- Operated tractor, boom lift and pneumatic truck probe on site, and operated company trucks on and off site.
- Received training in fall protection, confined space entry, LOTO, and respiratory safety.
