Interests and Misc

I joined because at heart I am passionate about solving hard problems. After spending two years in UVic's electrical engineering program, I was hungry to put my newfound knowledge to the test and work in a challenging design space. UVic Rocketry provided this opportunity and was extremely welcoming in spite of my lack of experience at the time. Since joining, I have worked on both mechanical and electrical projects and found a new passion for aerospace engineering.

In 2025, I served as the Avionics lead, which was without a doubt the highlight of my undergraduate degree. I oversaw projects including switching power supplies, custom LoRa transmitters and antennas, and an embedded digital video encoding and storage system, while working on my own data acquisition project. I have never felt more proud to be a UVic engineering student than during rocketry meetings. The club attracts people that I can only describe as gifted.

My time at UVR culminated in attending the Launch Canada 2026 competition with our Anduril 3 rocket. While it was great to showcase the project we spent the last year working on, the best part was seeing the incredible rockets designed by other Canadian university students. In 2026, Waterloo Rocketry broke the world altitude record for student designed liquid engine rockets at 63,497 ft. All of it designed, built and flown by people still working on their undergraduate degrees.

Fishing

I have been fishing ever since I could hold a rod. Most summer weekends in Winnipeg were spent on the Winnipeg River fishing for pike and walleye. A family salmon fishing trip to Campbell River was part of what inspired me to come to UVic.

When my brain is tired from engineering, fishing is a good way to give it a break.
